On August 7 in 1944, the first in the world IBM dedicated the Automatic Sequence Controlled Calculator (ASCC). The calculator is better know as the Harvard Mark I to Harvard University. That was a great innovation not only in the United States but also in the whole world.

Harvard Mark I was the largest electromechanical and digital calculator ever built. IBM had spent approximately $200.000 on this project and donated an additional honor to Harvard to cover the ASCC's operating expenses.
