On August 8, 2008, Georgian peacekeepers invade Ossetia. Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili sends troops into South Ossetia. Russia respond back to Georgia by moving its troops to the border and beginning air strikes in South Ossetia. 

Georgia claimed that Russian aircraft have bombed two of its airbases and that it has shot down five Russian jets. World leaders have tried to solve this conflict between Russia and Georgia. During his speech on CNN the president of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili described the situation as "war" and said that "Russia if fighting a war with us in our own territory".
